You got in mad shape to play Wolverine. Must have been hard work. I spent a lot of time working with a guy in Australia who’s a natural bodybuilding champion. I wanted to find out how to get in the most insane shape of my life, while still doing stunts. The diet was crazy. I woke up at 4am and ate dry toast and egg whites. Then I’d go back to bed, get up at six and have a full meal. I’d spend the rest of the day eating the exact amount of calories. I really enjoyed eating pizza at the end of the movie. And the half-dozen beers I had on the final day of shooting. What were the workouts like? I ran and had to lift very heavy weights. I would think I was Wolverine because that’s what it takes to do that kind of physical work. Every morning you get up and there’s a part of you that just wants to collapse but you just have to keep going. It’s full-on testosterone. When I’m training, I’m fairly obnoxious - I really make a big thing of it and there’s a lot of noise. I put on 10 to 15 pounds [over 5kg] of muscle. What was it like working with fellow massive unit Liev Schreiber? He’s a fun guy and we were quite competitive on set. When we were doing the fight scenes, Liev would look at me and say, “Are you going to use your stunt double?” I’d say, “I don’t know. Are you?” And he’d say, “I don’t think so,” and I’d say, “My stunt double’s not even here, mate.” Do you think Hugh Jackman shapes up as Wolverine? Enter your comments below.
