Bracken wants to crack Bollywood

Friday, February 20, 2009
The world’s best ODI bowler Nathan Bracken opens up to RALPH about Bollywood, Playboy and cracking the Test team.

After your missus Hayley appeared in RALPH, how do you feel about other blokes drooling over her?
I’m not fussed. I’m proud of her and I’m happy to see her doing something she loves.

Would you let her pose nude for Playboy?
Guys don’t have much of a say and Hayley would be flattered though.

Have you had to sign any breasts?
I’ve been asked to a few times, but we’re not allowed. Kids have requested to sign their foreheads, which is pretty odd.

Like Binga, would ever do a Bollywood music video?
Actually, Hayley is classically trained and has a great voice. She could do a Bollywood song and dance and I could maybe dance in the background.

Who’s the funniest bloke you’ve played with?
Andrew Symonds is very dry and calls it how he sees it. He always puts a smile on my face.

Who’s been the most annoying team mate?
At one stage it was Brad Hogg, then Pigeon [Glenn McGrath] used to tap you on the shoulder and hide or be the last one to clap. Now it’s Doug Bollinger.

You have been labelled as the “go-to man” in ODI. Do you feel there’s a lot of pressure on you? Not really, as it’s good to have some say in the outcome of a game. I enjoy the challenge and the pressure.

Who’s the best most difficult player to get out?
Virender Sehwag from India is a very dangerous player. He reads the ball really well.

Would you give your left nut to play Test cricket?
I’d check with the wife first, in case we’re planning to have more kids.

What’s up with the hair?
I’m growing it, unlike some other Aussie cricketers who’re doing the opposite. The missus loves it. That’s the main thing. The boys sometimes call me Andy G.

If the Test selectors said get a haircut first, would you go the chop?
I would like to see it in writing first, before I make any commitment.

Geoff Lawson had a few harsh words about you getting overlooked in the Test team.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and the critics said I wasn’t good enough to play OD cricket. First I was a part-time player and now I’m officially recognised as the best ICC one day bowler in the world. It’s sometimes frustrating being overlooked, but you just have to sit back and realise there could be worse situations.

The recent losses in Australia has been described as the worst in 25 years. What’s the get out of jail plan?
There’s a new generation of younger blokes who will turn it around. These guys are good and are the future of Australian cricket.

When you go on tour, who throws the best after parties?
We’re usually pretty tired after a game, but the IPL has some great parties. The Challengers Bangalore owner threw a wild party after the first game last year, as he imports a lot of the alcohol into the country.

Michael Bevan was a freak batsmen in the ODI's and scored millions in sheild. They didnt give him a proper go back then and it is the same with this poor lad. It is heartbreaking to see him left out and it is costing us the top spot in the world...
You sir, are a legend. I believe Nathan Bracken SHOULD be in the test side. He can swing the ball, bowl all day long thanks to his variation of pace and amazing accuracy and has a knack of taking some handy catches in the outfield. Give him a go selectors, and give the Aussies a fighting chance for the Ashes this year.
Only an idiot would over look him for the test team. He is the best bowler we have at the moment. He can look like a tool all he likes but if he gets the job done who cares
Bracken is a legend hes an awesome addition to the team.. even if he couldn't play cricket well i just like lookin at him dayam he makes the cricket worth watching no doubt lol
The Aussie pace attack struggled to dismiss the South Africans this summer. As we head over there for the return series, our most experienced and available WICKET-TAKER is left at home. Why??? Bracken will not be a debutant and has performed well at test level. Remember the Gabba test against the West Indies.
Bracks should forget tests. Doesn't do enough with the pill to get the classy blokes out required for tests, one dayers a hit and giggle and his good line and length is his forte. Needs to do more with the ball for tests. Symmo can do the lot. I'd make him captain coach. He has been the real spiritual mentor of the side and reminds us to let go the big head stuff and enjoy the game. He challenges and says how it is. How quickly people forget his quite extraordinary contributions for the Aussies when the chips have been down. Amazing to see how quickly the public forgave Warny over and over again for his childish and distasteful behaviours - (texts, girls and borishness)
i bet u couldnt play cricket for nut NEGLECT oh u probs dont have any so leave him a lone he is an awsome player. ps i bet u r jealous cause u dont have any hair u C BRACKEN ROCKS!!!
You are a tool bracken get a hair cut and stop trying to look better then your missus. i doubt you will play test cricket again you nancy boy.
Bracken,Clark, & Johnson should be the nucleus of our test pace attack. As Clark is injured but could be available for the Ashes series,I'd complement this trio with Siddle or Hilfenhaus.Backups are Bollinger,Noffke and perhaps Lee. Bracks should be among the first chosen.
love watchin the guy bowl , mature age test debut i hope , johnson, bracken, siddle love to see tait hilfenhaus there 2
