UK uni advertises for lap-dance researcher

Tuesday, December 1, 2009
A university in Pomgolia has advertised for a lap-dance research officer to interview 300 exotic dancers.

Hopefully the successful applicant gets to watch 300 private shows as well, making it the best job in the world.

The advertisement says "prior experience of conducting research in the female sex industry" is essential, the UK's Daily Telegraph reported.

The research hopes to learn where dancers are recruited from, will examine their working conditions and research how erotic dancing has become "mainstream" entertainment.

Sadly, applications closed last week.

with 300 dancers, more than half will have horror stories...I hope this research gets published, would be a very interesting read.
by far the best job in the world
I think Adrian from surfers hit the nail on the head there. At first glance, the average ozzie bloke would have said YEAH BABY. But, once you get down to the nitty gritty you would find that 1 serious reserch is hard work and 2 the exotic dance scene isn't all spotlights and half naked girls (though I'm sure there would still be plenty of eye candy). I'm sure that for the right guy or girl this job could be rewarding but also a little scary.
wow i will be over the moon if i can get this job, i dont care it will paid fix salary or paid by the hour, i will be a researther and entertanier as well.
Aidan is right, most of these girls have had really hard lives. Many of these girls come from a background of ongoing sexual abuse and live in challenging circumstances as single mothers or heroin addicts. I have provdided counselling to many girls who feel they have no other options in life, battle with self esteem issues and dont trust any men. Many have to constantly lie about what they do for a living and keep these lies going so they can live a seperate life. It is not a glamorous industry and those girls earn their money with the amount of crap they have to take.
is nice
This industry is run by organised crime, abuses women, feeds them drugs, attracts monsters and perpetuates violence wherever the venues operate (sexually frustrated men full of alcohol and drugs on the sidewalks = violent outcomes). Whoever says this industry is now mainstream should realize they are contributing to public acceptance of an awful and evil business that is being "normalized" by the shameful politicians who take lucrative bribes and kickbacks to grant applications to open these venues wherever they want. It is not mainstream and should be fought on a global scale to stop women being further abused...most lap-dancers I have met(and I have met many as I work in the music industry) have come from broken homes with one or more sexually abusive parent, and virtually all of them have mental health and drug problems as a result, and lap-dancing , while it may pay well for a minority, just makes everything worse for so many already damaged souls.
that depends entirely on your morales and current beliefs. I could certainly appreciate that to be a fantastic job, it qualifies as one of the power temptations!
The stories that this researcher will hear will scar him or her for life, if my experience with this industry (in a security capacity) is anything to go by. I hope the university provides a counselling service as part of its debriefing for this position.
