No job's too big or too small for TV's Dr Phil McGraw. Not even his own vasectomy.
While the mere thought of a vasectomy is enough to make any man squirm, the talk-show host had zero qualms getting hands-on when it came to his own big snip.
According to an essay McGraw wrote for Newsweek, when wife Robin was expecting their son Jay, the couple decided one was enough and they'd cease production. So McGraw, then 29, enlisted one of his doctor buddies to perform the procedure.
So casual was the appointment, his friend didn't bother booking a nurse, and just had patient McGraw hand him the surgical instruments as needed.
McGraw on the operation: "It's painful when they kind of pull on it." (You reckon?)
But six years later McGraw's wife decided she wanted another kid. So the very next day, McGraw mentioned it at the hospital where he worked and more doctor pals instantly offered to reverse the operation.
Once again, it wasn't under the most formal of circumstances or doctor-patient protocol.
"They say, "Take your shirt off," and they start plugging me into IVs," McGraw wrote in Newsweek. "I remember being in recovery and the doctors saying, "Wake up! We have to get you out of here." They drag me out with one arm over each shoulder and drive me home. They dump me on the curb later that night."
The operation worked like a charm. Six weeks later, Robin McGraw was pregnant with their second son, Jordan – who, as you can see in the video below, went on to make daddy very proud ... by sleeping with Hugh Hefner's one-time prized playmate and fiancee, Crystal Harris.
Your say: Are you willing to get a vasectomy?
