Artist gets $41,000 to study bums

Tuesday, June 30, 2009
A lucky artist in the UK has been awarded a £20,000 (A$41,000) grant to study women's bottoms.

Sue Williams, from Swansea, was handed the cash to help her, "explore cultural attitudes towards female buttocks". She said her project is, "taking on the issues around the bottom and how it is viewed."

William's exploration of the place of bottoms in contemporary culture will involve her taking plaster cast moulds of women's backsides.

On hearing the news, RALPH spent several hours preparing a grant application for the Australia Council for the Arts.
