• Dying man summons police for confession
• Confesses without problems, has trouble dying

James Brewer, 58, from the town of Shawnee, in Oklahoma, USA, didn't want to die with a burden on his soul.

In hospital after a stroke and at death's door, he called police to his bedside and confessed to killing Jimmy Carroll in Tennessee, back in 1977.

According to the Oklahoman, Brewer had thought there was something going on between his wife Dorothy and Carroll. After the murder, the Brewers changed their names, and fled the state.

Unfortunately for Brewer, his confession was made a little early, and he recovered from his stroke. Now he faces spending the rest of his life in jail.

thinl about the family he should of told 29yrs ago not just no its not fair to the family....stop think about him and think about the family if u did die after the stoke and telling i think that it is really bad
If I were ignorant enough to commit a crime I sure as heck wouldn't be dumb enough to let the cat out of the bag! Now I'm an honest person ...well as honest as this country allows us to be anyway....however, I feel that in a time like that when your laying there thinking I'm going to die... the only person that needs to forgive is yourself. I wonder how that man feels now about his confession and his crime. I wonder if he's still sorry he committed the crime?!
He shuld of at least made sure he was gonna die first.
no way would i confess, if you'd lived with it for 30 years obviously you wouldn't have a concience
Confessing to the crime, revealing the whereabouts of a body helps give closure to the family. It's all about taking responsibility for your actions and taking the consequenses for your actions. I feel so sorry for the people who don't get the closure they deserve. To live with the memories of a loved one lost, and never found.
