Corpse instead of carp

Thursday, March 12, 2009
• Delivery of fish fails to reach pet store.
• Dead body received instead.

Employees at Pets Plus USA, in Philadelphia, were expecting a shipment of tropical fish when they received a man's dead body instead.

Mark Arabia, owner of the store, learnt the body was that of Jon Kenoyer, a 65-year-old man who died of early onset Alzheimer's disease.

The body was supposed to go to Lifequest, a research laboratory in Allentown 70 miles away. Kenoyer's widow, Mary Ellen, had donated it to help with research into Alzheimer's.

"At first, I was in the state of shock that they messed up to begin with, I wondered where he was going or how he got there," Mary Ellen told a local news station. "And then I started to laugh because he was one that always did practical jokes and I said this was the last joke on us."

The fish, which had shipped in three boxes, are believed to have gone the way of Jon Kenoyer.
