When a bride's plans for a massive white wedding blew the groom's budget, the Austrian man took to robbing banks to pay the bills, according to news website, Ananova.com.
Ahmed Boyer, 36, had stolen around A$670,000, before an off-duty policeman caught him fleeing the fourth bank he robbed in Vienna.
Even that money wasn't enough to pay for the wedding his fiance had demanded, with 500 guests, a Chanel wedding dress, a new car, plus a honeymoon in the Caribbean.
"The wedding was costing a lot of money and I realised I would never be able to pay for it," he told the court. "The money from the first robbery went in a day so I just kept going."
He faces jail, but has avoided a life sentence with his pampered fiance.
