Thieves who robbed a bank in New York City this week used a fake chimney to break in via the roof, reports say.
The creative crooks set up a fake chimney as cover while they blowtorched their way into the building, before making off with over $1 million in cash and jewellery.
Employees of the Astoria Federal Savings Bank in Brooklyn fronted up to work on Monday morning to find a large hole in the roof and more than 60 deposit boxes broken into.
The robbers appeared to have done their homework, even nicking surveillance cameras around the bank in the weeks leading up to the heist. But their luck might have run out – police are now looking at footage of the crooks from a camera they failed to see.
