Cage of death

• Close encounter with angry crocs
• Box lowered into croc pen for 20 minutes

Forget about cage diving with great white sharks, try swimming in a clear box with massive, six-metre-long crocodiles.

The new pants-staining tourist attraction at Crocosaurus Cove, Darwin, is offering brave punters the chance for a close encounter with a bunch of angry crocs.

Thrillseekers wearing a pair of goggles and boardies jump into the cage of death, which is 3m high and only 4cm thick of acrylic. The cage has no bars, which prevents the reptiles from gripping on, but deep teeth scratches are visible on the sides.

The box is lowered into the croc pen for 20 minutes and Top End tourists need to keep a lookout for Choppa, an aggressive fella who lost both front feet whilst fighting other crocs.

Daredevil Mark Clayton said, “'I’ve dived with sharks, large rays, moray eels but it's not this close. It's exhilarating to get that close to a crocodile of that size.”

You’re welcome to give it a go anytime, Rove. Preferably without the cage…

Hell yeahhhhhhhhhh Heck, I live in Darwin. Might as well. Bwahaha June-July holidays Ima go check it outttt.
I went swimming with the Crocodiles in the Cage of Death with my boyfriend on our Anniversary last year, and it was wow, I'm so glad I experienced it! One of them was so big and the other big dark one had a face so large and he was staring at the cage real hungry!! Amazing to see, and definitely different from underwater, this park was worth going to!!!
Im a chubby girl so Im thinking that my heart would stop or that snappy crock would think I was some puff cake ........I would die im so sure if it ..............
Throw me on a plane to Darwin and im in, im wearing waterproof pull ups though.
I have done it and would definitely reccomend it to anyone visiting Darwin! Great way to get up close and have a good look at the crocs, and definitely a good way to get the heart racing, that big Choppa lad attacked the side of the cage while we were in the water, Change of pants definitely required lol.
My boyfriend and I did this in Darwin back in October. It was awesome to be so close, however the crocs more or less stay still while you're in there.
Who needs a cage......I'm training for the 50m Freestyle at the next olympics
I have been in the cage of death, July 2008, and it was terrifying.... I screamed the WHOLE TIME! The owner stirred up the croc and it came and bit at the cage.
Hello the crocs are fed they may be curious but you can bet you are perfectly safe as what company would want the nightmare of a tourist being mauled. This is just hype, cage of death my foot. Cage of mild interest maybe. Yes I have cage dived with great whites and dived in the open water in the NT where the crocs are not kept fed and roam free.
i did the cage about 4 months ago with my mate.. we were a bit disappointed as the crocs didnt move much (due to temp of water) but a few other crew from work have done it just recently and crocs are very active.. cheaper to do it as a duo as well, make sure you take someone to take pics from the walk around area as the pro ones are a little pricey... definately recomment it for those with an adventerous streak in em!! chomp chomp!!
