Stonehenge 'built for raves'

• Perfect for trance music
• Stones created special sounds

Stonehenge was built as a wild party venue for prehistoric raves, according to a Pom uni professor.

The 5000-year-old stone circle was perfect for trance music, according to Dr Rupert Till, also a part-time DJ. Dr Till, an expert in sound technology at Huddersfield University, carried out experiments which show the stones have excellent acoustics for repetitive rhythms.

He tested the effect using a computer model of Stonehenge and during a visit to a concrete replica built in Washington state, USA.

“Ancient Brits shaped the stones to create special sounds. We reproduced the sound of someone speaking or clapping and managed to get the whole space to resonate,” says Dr Till as reported in The Sun.

It probably won’t be long before archaeologists discover prehistoric glowsticks and Chupa Chups at Stonehenge.

aw yeah definitly but why stop there? How bout a rave party in the Sistene Chapel? Im sure the Pope wont mind!
If they decided to hold a dance party at stonehenge I'd fork out the dollars to be there anyday!
no one can get harmed wont get in anyones way no noise polution so hell yea why not
Perhaps they could hold a Sensation dance party there?
I cant believe it hasnt been made into a rave party already. It would be silly but because all the munted people would hit their heads on the rock and security would have their work cutout for them trying to get the people off the top of the rocks like they do at the big tent at summadayze.
Definately the place to be this saturday night
I'm no hater of the rave but having such a thing at such an ancient place is ludicrous. Can you imagine what drunk people on drugs with glow sticks and chupa chups would turn the place into? I can see broken glow stick goo all over the stones, paint, vomit, chunks broken out etc. If Stonehenge is so good for a rave then lets build a new one somewhere else that won't destroy the old one, hell,I'd DEFINITELY go to any rave there!!
Under no circumstances whatsoever should the ancient sacred Druid site of Stonehenge be subjected to rave parties. That would be as sacriligious as holding raves at the holy sites of any of the world's other religions. Stonehenge needs to be respected as the symbol of one of the oldest religions in the world and treated with dignity and veneration. Even from a purely historical aspect, Stonehenge has enormous cultural and constructual significance and should be preserved under world heritage protection.
LOL...
It shouldn't be turned into a venue, it should be left alone as a marvel of history..
