Cabbie picks up $4687 fare to Oktoberfest

A cabbie in Pomgolia picked up the fare of his life when he drove a bucks party reveller to Munich for Oktoberfest.

Mick Hogan was sitting at a taxi rank in the south of England when approached by 30-year-old Dave, who had missed the flight for his mate’s pre-wedding shindig. Dave tried to find alternative flights, but was unsuccessful and told Mick to drive him to the Bavarian beer fest.

The dad-of-three explained that Dave would need to pay $4104 for the trip and a further $604 for the channel tunnel and a hotel for the night.

"He was obviously in a hurry and told me he had to get to Munich straight away. He just showed me his wallet with notes in it so off we went,” Mick told the UK’s Daily Telegraph.

"It felt surreal and a bit weird as we set off but it was certainly better and more profitable than being on the rank all day. It beats taking a few pensioners out to the shops."

After driving through the channel, the pair passed through France then to Belgium, then Luxembourg before arriving in Munich, Germany, 17 hours later.

"I assume he found all of his pals because he was on the phone to them trying to find out what bar they were in when we got near Munich,” says Mick.

Hell yeah that is commitment to the boys if I had 5k laying in my wallet and they was 17 hours away I would do it FOR THE BOYS

Wouldnt want to miss the bucks party but would have drove myself and saved the money! But by the sounds of it this guy he has abit of money to throw around so the cabbie made an absolute killing.

good work mate, a wise move I paid $2375.20 for the central coast to Tweed heads via taxi thanks to Telstra and cab charge, hence the fact I am not with Telstra now!!!

Why do people have to wait for someones tragedy to make a quick buck? This sounds like a good story, Yes i would give up my life for my good friends by spending absurd amounts. So he had to pay to get through and he had good thinking plans. But seriously the taxi driver should have given him a cheaper deal because it wouldn't have cost $4000 or so would it if he hired a car and drove himself to Munich. If this bloke paid that much for a few beers then he has seriously 'tripped'. I'd rather have fun with people I know that is without beer and if the article says for his friends bucks then it's ok. He should have given $4k to his friends collecting bucks party not for his travelling he could have done cheaper anyway. If he had good mates at the time searching on how to get there he would know that 'Next time catch the speeding bullet, 'train' Mate!

No I have a strorey to tell Whoever steals from an orphan even if the orphan gives you the money under Hypnosis e.t.c you go to hell. If this case was geniune why would they need to charge in dollars when in England it's pounds. Although there are genuine cases this isnt one of them.

I would pay $5000 to cab it to a friends hens nite if i missed my flight. Why not... A good night out is priceless
