Cremated dad spotted on TV

Monday, September 8, 2008
A Pom bloke got the shock of his life when he saw his father alive and well on TV – five years after he held a funeral for him.

John Delaney vanished in 2000 and was declared dead three years later when cops found a decomposed body in similar clothes. His family then held a funeral where his supposed body was cremated.

The reality of what really happened was revealed when his son John Jr caught a glimpse of his old man on BBC1 show Missing Live. Delaney, 71, had in fact been admitted to hospital after wandering around Manchester in a confused state from a blow to the head.

Suffering from amnesia caused by the injury, he couldn't give police any clues about his name, address or family and was given the new name David Harrison. He was put him in a care home where he stayed for the next eight years.

His son now spends every day with his dad hoping to jog his memory and wants compensation for the funeral costs.

New TV Program- Police Bloopers Episode 1 "Buried Alive". Great for the family but hell what an outcome after what they've been through for all those years! I wish them all the success and hapiness for the future.
