Team banned after losing 54-1

Wednesday, June 11, 2008
A German football team have been banned for a year after losing 54-1 in a promotion derby.

Germany's DJK Loewen II team have been suspended for 12 months after being accused of deliberately letting rivals Rheinkassell-Langel II win to gain promotion.

As reported on Ananova.com, a local football fan said, "They decided that Rheinkassell weren't involved directly in the cheating so they kept the points and Loewen is now officially the worst team ever in German league football."

Might be time to recruit the DJK Loewen II boys to play in Kochie's Sunrise team.

Do you think a one year suspension is fair? Leave your comment below.

I think they deserve the ban. 54-1 is quite bad, I couldn't even lose by that much if I tried.
i think its disgusting that the winning side couldnt keep a clean sheet!
What bemuses me is that it was a battle for promotion against a supposed rival team. Who in the world would have the nerve or audacity to deliberately lose a football match in such a catastrophic manner. Which begs the question, was there an ulterior motive. Are the individuals in some kind of collusion to gain a profit from this via a betting agency.
I can't believe you guys actually have the audacity to call them a *** team...disgusting.
