Cop claims ecstasy is safer than aspirin
Thursday, January 3, 2008
Recreational drug ecstasy is safer than aspirin, alcohol and tobacco, claims North Wales chief constable Richard Brunstrom.
The controversial cop told the BBC, "There is a lot of scaremongering, rumour mongering around ecstasy. It isn’t borne out by the evidence.
"Ecstasy is not a safe substance and I’m not suggesting that it is. But it is much less dangerous than, for instance, tobacco and alcohol."
Chief constable Brunstrom also believes heroin and cocaine should be legalised and it could happen in the next 10 years.
Do you agree that ecstasy is safer than aspirin, alcohol and tobacco? Leave your comment below.

Don't worry, he's a cop......we can trust him.
yes i agrea but do u know were ur ecstacy being made if it was made bye a company it would be alot safer because its not made in a bath tub or somthing
after seeing the effects ecstacy has on people, i.e my friends and family, it and other drugs should never be legalized. I just wonder if there are corrupt police on the force!
A bent cop would say this because it is his bread and butter i would suggest to him give up the job if he beliefs in the *** he stated, Alcohol is safer than all the illegal drugs combine and any thing that is injected, inserted, snorked and smoked is bad the only reason he wants drug legalised is so he can escape criminal prosecution for all the crimes hes been involved while protecting the drug trade like so many police officers world wide who are *** bent on protecting this flithy deadly low life industry
legalise for adults, definitely safer then OH and tabacco, depending on use as all of the above could be detrimental to young developing brains, like aspirin usse in small doses, more education on the subject would be good for the public
I think if it were legalized, alot of the risks about those drugs would go down, and people wouldnt have to buy stuff made out of rat poisen or draino, and these drugs used in moderation would be alot safer than aspirin, alcohol and tobacco.
thats so not true, get ur *** facts straight, and it wnt be legalised in 10years ***, go bak 2 school and get an education idiot
i Think taking any sort of drug long term can be harmfull but ecstasy made in a backyard lab ,No Thanks !! One tablet of ecstacy can Kill i dont think he would have that view if one of his children was on that stuff....
I'm not proud of it but i have had extensive personal and family experience with many drugs over a 10 year period. I have witnessed my own mother, an alcoholic, attempt to kill herself 5 times in an alcoholic stupor and suffer near death alcohol toxicity. I do not drink as a result yet use ecstasy, speed and marijuana regularly. I have never experienced mental or health problems with such use, I attended a selective highschool, I am writing my honours thesis at present on a paid scholarship, I am a phone store manager and am in a commited loving 6 year relationship. You be the judge
There has been no proof that ecstacy causes liver failure, puts you at a higher risk of contracting emphysema or putting you a a higher risk of lung and various other forms of cancer. The "drug" is whats commonly known as an upper, not a depressant like alcohol is. Ecstacy also doesnt eat away at your stomache lining like aspirin based medications do as well. It still bemuses me as to why this "illicit substance" is still an illegal one too. Especially seeing as alcohol and cigarettes have been prooven to kill more people per year that, on their own, than car accidents, drugs over doses and murders combined. Gets you thinking doesnt it?
