The Californian governor Arnold Schwarzenegger may return for
Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins in a cameo role. Shooting will start next year for the 2009 release - 25 years after the original.
Although Schwarzenegger will not play the starring role, executive producer Moritz Borman is hopeful the 'man of steel' will make a cameo appearance.
"He has an important job, as we know, and the final decision will be based on his desire and availability, along with what the director wants," Borman said.
The 60-year-old Austrian also starred in action films including 'True Lies', 'Predator' and 'End of Days'.
The fourth Terminator instalment is expected to be the first in a series of three new adventures set in the future.
Since trading in the film set stunts after being elected Governor of California in 2003, Schwarzenegger has appeared in cameo roles in 'The Rundown' (2003), 'Around the World in 80 Days' (2004) and 'The Kid and I' (2005).
