Oz rockers Something With Numbers win the style stakes.
How was suiting up for the shoot?
It was fun – and weird. I forgot to wear undies. So when the
guys were changing slacks, I was constantly running into
the bathroom. But I was getting tired of that, so I thought, “Maybe I should just take off my pants.”
Do you go for formal wear often?
Not heaps often. Sometimes I like to dress up if I’m going to borrow money off my mum or something. I like to look successful so she definitely thinks I’ll pay her back. It works, trust me.
I do the same myself. What do you reckon of jockey outfits?
They’re probably the best things I’ve ever seen. They’re silk. And they’ve got those little hats. The funny thing is only jockeys can wear them. I’m about six-foot [183cm] and if I was wearing multicoloured silk it just wouldn’t work. It’s an acquired taste.
Have you ever thought of dressing as different numbers on stage?
We haven’t, actually. We’d have to get number suits. Then we’d have to decide which number we’d be. I’d be number 11 because it looks like two dicks, which fits in with my personality.
Do you use product in your hair?
Only recently, because I cut it all of. I’ve just got a little short bush now that I’ve got to maintain. I use this thing from the 1960s called Murray’s Pomade. It’s what African-American basketball players used to use to keep their afros still. It’s really hard. I looked at the ingredients and it said petroleum and oil. So, if it doesn’t work in my hair, I can just throw it into my petrol tank.
