Big fish go ballistic for new 'flashing' lures

Thursday, March 10, 2011
Anglers smash personal bests with Balista’s awesome new Aussie technology.

What is it?

The latest must-have gizmo for fisherman. Shepparton-based company Balista have spent two years perfecting a state-of-the-art fishing lure, with built-in LED (light emitting diode). The sneaky lure imitates a bleeding baitfish by flashing ‘blood red’ and suckers any passing monsters of the deep into having a little nibble. There’s no on-off switch and no danger of running the battery down accidentally. Simply cast the lure into the water and the LED starts flashing. The lure de-energises when removed from the water, which turns the LED off automatically.

What's good about it?
It looks cool when it flashes! Oh, and it seems to land an extraordinary amount of fish when other lures fail to get a bite. Each lure is fully armoured-up and ready for battle. They are precisely engineered using the strongest materials to handle the dirtiest fighters among Australia’s predators. You also get a loud internal rattle as an added ‘strike factor’, plus an impressive 120-plus hours of battery life.

What's not?
Snagging and snapping up is heartbreaking at the best of times and you can double that grief and times it by 10 if you lose one of these $25 bad boys.

How much?
It depends what fish you’re targeting, but the models start from $24.95 a pop and rises to $31.95.

Where can I get one?
Visit www.balista.com.au for the full range or call 1300 334 741.
