A Chinese beer drinker has made a solar water heater using leftover beer bottles and hoses.
Beer bottle solar heating may sound like a drunken invention made by Homer and Barney from
The Simpsons, but it's now become a cost-effective and environmentally-friendly heater for peasants in Shaanxi province.
Carpenter Ma Yanjun, has helped more than 20 families in Qiqiao village to make and install their own beer bottle solar water heaters, Ananova.com reports.
Yanjun found real solar water heating too expensive for his mother, so the carpenter came up with the idea of making one himself.
The beer bottles lie on a board in rows, all connected by hoses which allow cold water to flow through them and be heated by the sun.
When Yanjun has enough money to buy more beers, he plans to build a public bathroom for the village.
Might be time to have the boys over for a big party!
