How long can you hold your breath underwater?
I've held it for 75m. We don't measure time – it's generally measured in distance.

Are there many injuries in synchronised swimming?
We often get other people’s feet in our faces, so we get broken noses. We’ve all got temperamental knees from all the eggbeater kicks we do. There’s a lot of strain. It’s been likened to swimming the 400m individual medley, which is the toughest race in swimming.

Have you ever got up to any underwater action?
No. There’s underwater cameras, so we’d get busted.

How do you and your swim partner Sarah Bombell stay in synch?
We count along to the music. You have to be able to count to eight – it’s a prerequisite.
