What's the best thing about living on the Gold Coast?
Definitely the surf. I was hesitant about putting the board in the shoot ’cos I’m copping stuff from mates about posing with it, but it’s good that I’m portrayed as what I am.
So surfing is a big thing for you?
Surfing was my life. The reason I came to the Gold Coast was to do more comps, but dancing [for Flirtmodels] took over.
What’s the worst thing about dancing in nightclubs for a job?
The guys who, when they’re trying to say how beautiful you are, are spitting in your face.
Is sex in a nightclub sleazy or a bit of spontaneous fun?
The other night I saw it on a car in a car park and that was a bit wrong. It was the two wrongest people you could ever see, just yelling and
screaming.
Sounds ugly. What do you look for in a guy?
I don’t have a checklist. It’s whoever strikes me as being a good person.
How important is the sexual connection?
It’s definitely very important, but there’s more to life than being shut up in the bedroom all day, every day.
Have you got any secret talents?
I guess I’m a bit of a bookworm. I surprise people with how well I do at uni.
Where would you like to be in 10 years?
Touring with surfing, which I don’t think will be the case at the moment. If medicine doesn’t happen, probably doing marine biology in the tropics somewhere.
Have you ever gone skinny-dipping?
With, like, 20 guys – and I was the only girl.
Was it your idea?
It could’ve been my idea. I think that’s how it worked.
If you could have one superpower, what would it be?
Being able to live underwater like a mermaid and not have to come up.
Sounds lonely.
There are lots of dolphins (laughs).
What’s the greatest high you’ve ever had?
My first barrel. You’re just inside a wave, it’s quiet, and it’s amazing. You can’t explain it; it’s a state of elation.
