Mon dieu! If all French girls looked like you we’d gladly put aside our hatred of your menfolk and emigrate to your chillier climes. What are you doing round these parts?
I was born in Biarritz, a surfing town in the south of France, but I came out here six years ago with my mum. Australia is such an amazing place to grow up in. I love the beach culture and the relaxed Sunday sessions.
Did you cop heaps at school, like, “Hey Frenchie! What’s in your sangers today, snails and frog legs?”
(Laughs) I actually had no problem fitting in. Everyone wanted a piece of “the French girl”, but in a good way. I guess what also helped was that I was already quite developed, so I got a lot of attention from the guys.
Can you shed any light on the stereotype that French women are the world’s sexiest, while French blokes are a bunch of arrogant arses?
French women just know how to take care of themselves; we know how to look after our bodies. The idea that French men are arrogant is just an Australian point of view of all European men, I think. It’s just that European men know what they want and that’s what might make them appear arrogant. French people, as a whole, know what they want, how they want to look, and they know how to go about it.
If most Aussie men think French women are hot, who do French women
like?
Aussies! Seriously, there’s a stereotypical understanding in France that Aussie guys are tanned, blonde, extremely sporty, and they surf. Which is not to say we don’t have French men who fit that bill, but I guess the grass is always greener on the other side.
What have French blokes got going for them that Australian men
don’t?
They’re generally more respectful of women than Aussie guys are, and they take more of an interest in culture and the arts.
Seeing as you’re an arts student, we’re guessing we wouldn’t be able to bluff our way through those areas — so what chance have we got of turning you on?
I like to have a bit of everything in my life, you know, sour and sweet. I like strolls on the beach and adrenaline rushes. A guy just needs to adopt the right attitude in the right situation. Maybe more soft, lovely and romantic during the quite times, but able to take control at other times. Oh, and I also need a man who can let me take control when I feel the urge...
What kind of physical contact gives you that urge?
I definitely get a weak feeling when I’m kissed softly on the shoulder... or just a really amazing mouth-to-mouth kiss.
Do you have a wicked side?
Well, of course I’m a nice girl — sweet and polite — but I have been naughty. I think every teenager kind of rebels at some point. I did some pretty wild things. I’ve lied, cheated in a test, and drank when I was in high school. I guess I’m more what you’d call cheeky now that I’m older because I know right from wrong. But I’m no goody-goody.
Where would your ideal date take place?
I’m more of an outdoor kinda girl, so I’d love it if the guy took me for a drive to a deserted beach with white sand and crystal clear water. We’d spend the day chatting on the hot sand and cooling our bodies in the calm water. Maybe some sand-boarding or jet-skiing to break it up, and a picnic with strawberries before driving home just as the last sunrays of the day disappear. Then we’d finish with a steamy, hot shower at home — that would be just perfect. No-one said it was a first date, right?
If you want to get naked it’s fine with us. But if it was a first date, is there anything a guy could do to ruin it?
I really don’t want to hear someone bragging about things that never happened; even finding out that the truth was embellished would turn me off a bit. That, or a really bad kiss, there’s nothing worse than that!
