Everyone knows your face from your “fully sick” joke in Kings Cross, but tell us about the real Clare.
I’m a typical Northern Beaches [of Sydney] girl. I love going out with my girlfriends, hanging out with my boy mates and chilling with my boyfriend.

Let’s talk about the "chk-chk boom" incident. It’s been more than a year. What actually happened that night?
I was at [music venue] the Metro with a girlfriend, and I got a bit sick so she put me in a taxi. I called another friend, who was in Kings Cross, and we were going to meet up and share a cab home. My taxi driver could only get half way up William Street [the main road into Kings Cross], because it was all closed off. So I walked the rest of the way and met my friend. Then I saw the cameraman, jumped in front of him and said I’d seen the whole thing. Then we went home.

How would you come up with your spiel?
At the beginning of the footage, you can see me think it through a bit. But it was all just babble, really. I didn’t know the next word that was going to come out – it just kept rolling out.

What about the “chk-chk boom” bit?
I’d never said it before. It just came out, like the rest of the story.

You’re co-hosting a new show on Nine called The Real Hustle. What’s it all about? It’s a show about hustles, scams and cons that go on around the world. There’s myself, a conman and an illusionist/magician. There are hidden cameras in public, and we show how people get scammed and, hopefully, teach the public how not to be scammed in the future.
